2 seasons just started up in leagues at nhl94online.com. If you're interested in playing, you can still register on the website and be placed on the waiting list. Then, if other coaches can't play, it's possible we'll need to replace them, so keep practicing!

I know it's been a long time and way over due, but the site code has been updated to be more current and mobile friendly. This was a simple conversion to a more functional site, but I'll be looking for feedback as to what we can do to spice things up around here. Also, please post in the forums if you notice any major issues.
More importantly, there's been an amazing development in that Mikey McBryan is working on a documentary about the one and only NHL'94! His website for the project is located at: http://www.pixelatedheroes.net/
He's been traveling all over interviewing members of the forum (including myself), people in the media, and even the man himself Mark Lesser. There's an entire forum section dedicated to this awesome project.
This is a list of currently active online leagues involving NHL '94.
This league uses the original NHL '94 ROM. The regular season is 40 games and 7 weeks long, and the playoffs last a few more weeks after that. There are multiple leagues for both Genesis and SNES, to help even out the skill levels between players. This league is a great starting point for beginners to online play. We have a number of new coaches every season. The team selection process is random, so those who sign up the first day or the last day have the same chance of getting one of their favorite teams. The leagues normally range between 10 and 14 teams each, so this gives every coach a chance to get a good team. Registration normally takes place in February for the Spring league and late August for the Fall league.
This league uses a weight-bug fixed version of the Genesis '94 ROM. This league normally runs twice a year, and has 2 separate leagues to divide up the skill levels. The league is a draft-based, stat-compiling league. It has a player draft held at the beginning of each season, with the ability to hold over some players from the previous season's team. Player and team stats are taken from the save states of each game and compiled on the website. There is a waiting list for new players if they would like to join. The coaches are held over from the previous season, but a replacement is needed from time to time. Visit the website for more details.
This league uses the original version of the Genesis '94 ROM. One of the longest running leagues on the site, it is a draft-based, stat-compiling league, similar to Blitz. There is a player draft held at the beginning of each season. Player and team stats are taken from the save states of each game and compiled on the website. There is a waiting list for new players if they would like to join. The coaches are held over from the previous season, but replacements are needed when a coach cannot return or fails to play their games. Visit the website for more details.
In this league, players not only play the games, but must be work as GMs as well! Running for 6 seasons, each season will use player stats from the '93-'98 NHL games. Coaches/GMs put in player contract bids to sign players, but need to be smart and keep within the salary cap and the salary floor. Season 1 was just completed, using the NHL '94 ROM with NHL '93 player stats.
This league features a twist using the Genesis ROM. It is a new league with only 8 coaches, where the original '94 ROM is used. Coaches choose teams in the beginning of the season, and play through most of the season using the original rosters. A little over half the season through, there will be a trade intermission when a brief draft will be held to pick up some free agents from unused teams, and trading amongst coaches will be allowed as well. This could help some teams pick up some more firepower to help propel them into the playoffs, or fill in big holes in their defense. For more information, check out the forum link below.
This league uses a modified version of the Genesis ROM. With only 2 skaters and a goalie on each side, it pits 2 teams of 2 coaches against each other. There are normally tournaments held annually using this ROM. Check out the forum for details and information on when the next tourney will start.
