FAQs

Hopefully answers to some of your questions can be found here about NHL94. The forum is a very useful place to ask questions and read information. If you don't find your answers here, try the forum.

Q. What is NHL94?

A. NHL94 is a videogame that was released by Electronic Arts in 1993. It was the 4th release of this hockey series and, in many cases, proves to be the best one to date. This series is still being released by Electronic Arts today, and ironically enough, it was included in the NHL '06 game for the Play Station 2.

Q. What game consoles did this game come out for?

A. This game was released for Sega Genesis, Sega Megadrive (Europe Genesis), Sega CD, and Super Nintendo.

Q. Is it possible to edit the game data in this game?

A. Yes. We have a whole section on it called Game Editing. We explain how to edit many things within the game, and for some, this changes the whole meaning of nhl94. There is also an NHL94 Editor built by wboy called NOSE (NHL Old Skool Editor). You can check it out on his website here: http://www.hexaddicts.com/

Q. I would like to start learning how to edit the game, where do I start?

A. First, I would goto the Game Editing page of this website, and start reading about Hex and how the game's code is read. We have a lot of documentation for the .bin file which is the Genesis version of nhl94. We also have similar documentation of the .iso file for Sega CD. We don't have any editing information for the .smc SNES version at this time, but a lot of the concepts are the same.

I would also start browsing through the forum section of this website, and start reading about what people have questioned and learned so far. This should be a good start to editing nhl94.

Q. Can this game be played over the internet?

A. Yes. For each console, there is an emulator that simulates the console on a computer. For genesis, there are a couple emulators (Gens, Gens Plus) that work fine. You can play online with the emulator against other people. Of course, you can't actually play with the Sega Genesis, Megadrive, or CD over the internet. To download the emulators, visit the downloads page.

I highly recommend reading the getting started guide for playing online here if this is all new to you: http://nhl94online.com/html/getting-started.php

Q. Are there any tournaments I can join at this time or soon?

A. Yes. We have an online leagues at: http://www.nhl94online.com.

Q. How do I become part of the community?

A. Simply sign up on the forum and participate in discussions. We encourage everyone and anyone to be a part of the community to add a positive asset to the group.
